the book is forthcoming. by Danyel Smith. a history of black women in pop. from It Books/HarperCollins (2014). now writing. tumbling this stuff keeps me inspired, and keeps my brain sane.

'the FBI has released 128 pages of documents detailing investigations it conducted on behalf of [Whitney Houston]. The bureau provides information on three cases, dating as far back as 1988—two of which related to threatening letters the Grammy winner was receiving, the third related to an extortion attempt made by someone demanding $250,000 in exchange for keeping information on Houston’s alleged “romantic relationships” secret.'
